Ska-punk progenitors and mainstays of 3rd wave ska, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones announced today that they have decided not to continue as a band.

Best known for their single, “The Impression That I Get”, which hit number 1 on the US Modern Rock charts, The Bosstones formed in 1983 from the Boston, MA, hardcore punk scene. Over the course of their nearly 40 year career, they would release 11 studio albums, including 2021’s When God Was Great, 11 EPs, 2 compilation albums, 2 live albums, appearances on Lollapalooza and the Warped Tour, movie soundtracks, and even appearing on screen (you may remember the party band in Clueless… that was them). The Bosstones were the definition of 90s Ska-punk music, with their matching suits, energetic horn section, and a guy who’s job it was to just dance on stage.
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones definitely made their mark in music history and on the lives of many music fans in the 90s. ALT_ESC Radio salutes the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Will they eventually reunite? Someday, I suppose.
I just hope that dancing guy can find a new gig.
